Budgie Power Supply Remastered

Budgie Power Supply RemasteredI’ve been a big fan of Budgie for many, many years indeed. Got most of their stuff blah blah blah…..Through through the years as the old vinyl stuff has worn out, been lost or taken by aliens I’ve replaced on CD. Well, all bar a couple which are Power Supply and Nightlight. Still have Nightflight on cassette though have found both hard to track down on CD without sacrificing a couple of limbs first.

Then to my absolute delight, got an email a few days ago saying that Power Supply has been remastered, includes bonus tracks and if ordered via the band’s web site before 15 October then it’s a signed copy. Awesome…..If you fancy getting yourself one, here’s the link: http://www.budgie.uk.com/perchmerch.html

Power Supply was originally issued in 1980 at the height of the New Wave of British heavy Metal era. It was much more traditional straight-ahead heavy metal than previous works and perhaps their attempt to get swept along the NWOBHM path.  I’ve not heard it for a number of years though I do recall that the opener, Forearm Smash, hits you just like one and them steams along in similar vein for the remainder. Hellbender, Heavy Revolution, Gunslinger, the title track etc all seriously heavy, seriously good.

So to receive notification of the impending remaster and signed copy far too much to even remotely resist and the order button was promptly pressed. Can’t wait……..

Coming next (probably tomorrow) – a review of Magum’s new CD On The Thirteenth Day. Got it a few days ago. Magnum not usually my bad though “me mate Rob” said it’s dead good so I took his word for it. As I right to do that……?
