New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, Classic and Progressive Rock

Mythra Re-Form. Playing Brofest #3.

mythralogoI have learned that New Wave of British Heavy Metal legends (in my eyes at least…..) Mythra are back together and lined up to pay at Brofest #3 at the end of February. This is top news indeed as Mythra remain more than fondly remembered by us “original” NWOBHM types from all those years ago.

Indeed, their Death ad Destiny EP was one of the first “proper” records I ever bought. Though long since lost.

The band was tipped for bigger things back then and championed by the likes of Geoff Barton. As happened with many NWOBHM bands, the critical acclaim did not translate in to success and Mythra faded away in the early 1980s after attempts to get an album releases came to naught.

But now they are back and with the original line-up of Vince High, Mo Bates, John Roach and Alex Perry. Joining them will be Colin Hird and Phil Davies. Slotted to play their Brofest #3 comeback gig on February 27th it should be quite an occasion.

Brofest itself is becoming something of a tradition with many names from the early NWOBHM days on the bill. This year, in addition to Mythra, that includes Blitzkreig, Troyen and plenty more.

It all takes place between 27 February and 1 March at the Northumbria University Students’ Union. Full details at http://www.brofest.co.uk
