New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, Classic and Progressive Rock

The Mighty Ra: All Secrets Known Review

The Mighty Ra All Secrets KnownAll Secrets Known is the debut album from The Mighty Ra. A glorious progressive rock based set of songs mixing in elements of classic and melodic rock too. It’s a bit special and so well composed and performed.

Plenty of crisp guitars with washes of sound creating a fine atmospheric feel. Excellent soloing without needing to be flashy. Swirling keys and synth allied with some fine, precise bass lines and intricate drumming.

A proper, uplifting, accessible, enjoyable listen and a real winner in my book.

The nine-minute title track flashes by with so much packed in to it as the band set out their stall magnificently.

Nothing Comes Too Easy goes in to that classic/melodic rock territory. It’s infectiously catchy with a bit of a punch to it. Have a listen:

Will We Ever Know reminds me of early Gong as it meanders along with that spacey/trippy feel before a stunning fade out extended guitar break. Stunning stuff.

Seven Days has some of the keyboard washes all over it with an excellent catchy hook. Rising Tide and Rain a back to a bit of harder-edged prog………..then the superb twelve minute closer of The Bigger Lie.

This cut has it all and then some. Dramatic in scope, composition and delivery. Harder edged, atmospheric, melodic bass lines, chunky guitars, swirling keys and everything else a progressive rock song of this nature needs.

The Mighty Ra have pulled off something special here with All Secrets Known.

Pleased I found it after it popping up somewhere. A seriously recommended listen.
