About a year or so ago, Warrior’s Dave Dawson got in touch and we arranged a bit of an interview (read it here) revisiting the NWOBHM days, reformation of the band and a teaser that a new album was on the way.
Now then. Dave’s emailed again. This time to say that the new album is available. It is called Invasion Imminent.
The album is currently out as a download only. However I understand that a “proper” CD version is planned.
Because I am very old I still much prefer a physical product and not a new-fangled download. I simply don’t get it.
Thus, until the CD version is out I don’t plan to put up a full review.
I have listened to short samples of the album tracks on Amazon, and I have to say they sound great! Proper powerful NWOBHM-style punchy songs with plenty of raw power and bite. Get that CD out Dave. I want one now…..!
For the uninitiated, Warrior hung around a bit back in the early NWOBHM era before disappearing then with the resurgence in New Wave of British Heavy Metal popularity the band got together again to play Brofest a few years ago a welcome by-product of which is Invasion Imminent.
I couldn’t find any soundbytes anywhere other than Amazon. So to give you a taste of what Warrior is all about, here’s a video clip of them performing one of their “oldies but goodies” in Gateshead in 2015. Good innit?
I will review Invasion Imminent fully when I get my hands on the CD.
