Estrella We Will Go On Review

Estrella We Will Go On Album CoverI’ve been sent a review promo copy of the new album from Scottish rockers Estrella. It’s called We Will Go On. And it’s a mighty fine listen. Nicely rocked up sound with a classic feel to it all. By “classic feel” I mean classic rock feel a-la 1970s/1980s edges. On listening it’s not surprise that the band is being mentioned highly by the likes of Classic Rock magazine with Here I Am (opening track) awarded track of the week.

We Will Go On is due out on June 22nd and the title track is set to be released as a single slightly earlier in the month. My vote is get both….!

I think it’s an excellent album. Chocked full of infectious, anthemic, shout-along, big chorused, happy sounding songs that’ll make you feel good about yourself. The aforementioned opening cut is an immediate hit with the “na-na-na-na” chanting then comes the sweeping guitar and huge melody. Check out the video:

Wheels Keep Turning in a similar up-tempo crisp rocker then comes We Will Go On and it’s thumping drum-driven chanting style vocal which gets right in your head.

And so it goes on. Clean guitars, well-constructed overall sound mix, economical well times solo runs, solid drum/bass and the energetic vocals from Paul Gunn. These boys have the chops, the riffs, the melodies and they rock too.

And they can vary things up a bit from the big infectious, hook-laden classic rock sound through to the extended acoustically-driven “chill out” fade out to Undercover Lover.

Really have enjoyed getting to grips with this album. We Will Go On is Estrella’s second album and perhaps the one which will see them break out in to being a big act. On this evidence they have the ability to do it. You can hear a bit of that for yourself from the video above.
