New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, Classic and Progressive Rock

Angel Witch As Above So Below – The Witch Is Back

Angel Witch As Above So BelowAngel Witch is back with their first album in over a quarter of a century. They release As Above, So Below on 12 March 2012. One of THE greatest and most influential bands from the original New Wave of British Heavy Metal days is reformed and quite frankly sounding fantiastic.

Their debut album from all those years ago in without doubt a true NWOBHM classic and now us old farts from the old days and the “whippersnappers” of today have not long to wait until the Witch returns. Original member Kevin Heybourne resurrected Angel Witch a couple of years or so ago with a bit of touring and a few festivals. That activity has resulted in a record deal with Metal Blade and the new album out very soon.

The current line up is:
Kevin Heybourne: Vocals and Lead Guitar
Andrew Prestidge: Drums
Will Palmer: Bass

As Above, So below has been produced by Jaime Gomez Arellano. It contains some new songs together with some newly discovered tracks from the mists of time which did not see the light of day – these being Dead Sea Scrolls, Witching Hour, Into The Dark and Guillotine.

The full track listing for As Above, So Below is:
1. Dead Sea Scrolls
2. Into the Dark
3. Geburah
4. The Horla
5. Witching Hour
6. Upon This Cord
7. Guillotine
8. Brainwashed

The band is due to perform at The garage in London on 17 March so that’s a gig to get to if you’re in the area and want to witness a classic NWOBHM-era band. If you don’t have their debut album you are practically breaking the law….owning it should be compulsory for any self-respecting rocker.

The return of Angel Witch goes to show that the New Wave of British Heavy Metal lives and that you really can’t keep a good (great!) band down.
