New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, Classic and Progressive Rock

Medusa Touch: Insaniteyes Review

Medusa Touch InsaniteyesMedusa Touch formed in Scotland in the early 1980s when the New Wave of British Heavy Metal was everywhere.

The band back then were part of it and put the hard miles in playing countless gigs attempting the breakthrough which never came.

In 2019 they had songs they recorded in the old days released for the first time via Obscure NWOBHM Releases.

That album, Terror Eyes, was a thumping helping of hard edged fist pumping feel good rockers.

Now in 2022 Medusa Touch are back with a new original album – Insantiteyes –  with the eleven songs showing that the band are at the top of their game.

Each one a retaining that NWOBHM/1980s style legacy with a fresh modern twist.

Big crisp riffs and chopping chords everywhere. As are the fluid lead breaks all backed up by huge rhythm guitar and driven along by solid drum and bass. The vocals are powerful. All done with passion.

Committed to the Cause grabs straight away. Punchy as it thunders along with the big catch chorus making for a quite dramatic opener.

The other ten songs all in a similar vein. Each one delivered powerfully and with considerable enthusiasm.

Difficult to pick out favourites – they are all good – though if pushed then perhaps The Shooter. Secrets Never Told and Money Shot might hit that little bit harder.

I couldn’t find any videos of stuff from Insaniteyes – though for a taster of the Medusa Touch style, check out RBS from Terror Eyes:

Medusa Touch deserve some attention with Insaniteyes. For a band formed some four decades ago and not having the best of breaks back then, to release this album after all those years is evidence that they haven’t lost a step, retain their enthusiasm and on Insaniteyes are clearly enjoying themselves as well as keeping the NWOBHM spirit alive.
