Millennium Return After 27 Years

Millennium NWOBHMBack in the NWOBHM days, the North East of England was something of a hotbed of new and upcoming bands – Spartan Warrior, Tysondog, White Spirit and any number of others.

Amongst that number was Millennium who, like a good number of their counterparts, burned out after one album but could have and should have seen so much more success.

They disappeared in around 1987 – seemingly never to be heard from again – though now they are back.

Reformed, their debut album from 1984 has been re-released with a clutch of bonus tracks, an album of other stuff from the 80s is due to see the slight of day early next year, they are writing for a new album also to come out next year and they are playing Brofest in February 2016 for their reunion gig.

How do I know this? Simple. Guitarist Will Philpot told me……!

Back in the day Millennium played fast and loud. Bone-crunching stuff that aims for, and hits, right between the eyes (or ears). Powerful stuff.

Here’s a taster – Magic Mirror. Check out the tribal rhythmic drumming, big power chords laying down the riffs, some nifty guitar work and the vocals hitting the spot.

Did you enjoy the song? Only takes up three minutes of your life – three minutes you’ll be glad not to get back because it’s so good, right? A proper Ed Banger. Proper NWOBHM.

If you did enjoy Magic Mirror, there’s plenty more like that on that self-titled debut and the bonus tracks as well. Get your ears round a bit of previously lost NWOBHM and enjoy a band back on the scene with plenty to offer.

Welcome back boys!
