Here’s yet another under the radar band from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal days having their stuff rediscovered and to be released via the Cult Metal Classics.
The label has a good track record of somehow unearthing otherwise lost and mostly forgotten about NWOBHM-era bands along with the likes of Obscure NWOBHM Releases.
This time the band is Xero. The anthology is titled as Absolute Xero. It has a released date of 6 November 2026.
We can add Xero to the many, many other bands who sprung up during the then burgeoning New Wave of British Heavy Metal scene who looked promising and attracted some attention yet couldn’t turn it in to a successful career.
Based in London, Xero gigged hard. That did raise a few eyebrows resulting in a session for the much missed Friday Rock Show.
In addition to that they’d have tracks on the well known at the time Brute Force and Metal for Muthas Volume II compilations and also released an EP in 1983.
Now, Cult Metal Classics have pulled together Xero’s various recordings from the 1980s in to this anthology comprising of fourteen songs.
This edition is limited to 300 copies, features remastered sound and 16 page booklet with photos, lyrics and band story.

As usual with Cult Metal Classics, this is a limited edition. Three hundred CDs or if you prefer vinyl – two hundred on black vinyl and one hundred on what is described as red/white pinwheel vinyl. A reminder that the release date is 6 November 2026.
