New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, Classic and Progressive Rock

Dangerous Times for the Dead: Power Management.

Email arrived from Bjorn to tip me off about his band Dangerous Times for the Dead. Being 1: always keen to discover new bands and 2: intrigued by Bjorn’s leader of: “If Dee Snider, Glenn Danzig, Steel Panther and Iron Maiden would get together, get high, and record an album, it would sound like DANGEROUS TIMES FOR THE DEAD!”

Hmmmm – I thought. Sounds like my bag. Even more so as I read further in to Bjorn’s email:

“They are a Dutch Heavy Metal band that sounds they have been transported straight out of the 80’s; a hard & heavy, classic but fresh sound, truly makes them a part of the New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal.

Full of energy, entertaining and powerful, epic guitar solos, thumping bass and drums and a singer who cuts through all this violence with true heavy metal, high-pitched vocals. What makes them stand apart is their unique, fresh and modern-day approach, both in sound and online presence.

Their goal is to passionately blast out traditional heavy metal and share the fun and joy.”

Now it definitely sounds like “my bag” not least because I’m a big fan of old Dutch rock acts such as Bodine, Vengeance, Helloise and similar.

The band has a cracker of a video on YouTube for their song Power Management. It’s a cracker of a song too.

The video has a proper retro look about it with the cheesy effects and being a bit “grainy”. The song’s got a nice 80s feel about it too. The NWOBHM influences shine through punching along somewhere between Iron Maiden and period Judas Priest.

There’s also a nice semi-serious tongue-in-cheek side to it. Most promising I’d say.

Have a look/listen:

Did you like that – of course you did.

Now head on over to the band’s Facebook page to check them out some more:
