A five CD box set of Scottish New Wave of British Heavy Metal band Holocaust’s output between 1989 and 2003 is due for release on 24 April 2026 by Cherry Red Records.
Whilst it is titled as Dance in to the Void on the cover, I wonder if it should be Dance Into The Vortex as that’s a track from Sound of Souls?
This set follows on from the label’s Heavy Metal Mania box set of the band’s material between 1980 and 1984 which was released in early 2023.
That Heavy Metal Mania set spans what you might call Holocaust’s NWOBHM years.
After No Man’s Land in 1984 there’d be a five year break until The Sound of Souls in 1989 – that album being the first disc in this box set.
The second phase of Holocaust saw a changed line-up and a change of musical style in to more of a speed/thrash arena and some progressive metal leanings here and there.
The five CDs are:
The Sound Of Souls (1989)
Spirits Fly (Hypnosis Of Birds) (1992/1996)
Covenant (1997)
The Courage To Be (2000)
Primal (2003)
Here’s The Small Hours from Hypnosis of Birds
Top marks to Cherry Red for continuing with the Holocaust box sets. I wonder if there’ll be a further set for Holocaust’s subsequent albums of Predator and Elder Gods?
The release date is scheduled for 24 April 2026 and is available for pre-order.

Then for more vintage NWOBHM – just a couple of days later on 26 April, Cherry Red release a box set of Praying Mantis live stuff from the 1990s as Official Bootleg Volume 1 Live in Japan.
And Vardis are getting in to the act with the release of 100MPH 79 Revisited on 24 April 2026. Unreleased 70s studio sessions and earliest self-released records reissued for the first time.
So, in about seven weeks from the date of posting, three releases featuring classic NWOBHM-related bands to look forward to. How good is that?
