Melodic Meltdown: Touching Eternity

Melodic Meltdown Touching EternityJoe Clancy – drummer with the magnificent Vardis – messaged me about another band he’s involved with called Melodic Meltdown.

Quite timely given the recent news about the upcoming Vardis 100MPH 79 Revisited album coming in April and we have the New Wave of British Heavy Metal connection with Melodic Meltdown given Joe’s drumming for both bands.

Joe tells me Melodic Meltdown go back quite a few years and are now active again after around a twenty year period of general inactivity.

Joining Joe in Melodic Meltdown are Michael Søbygge, Lasse W. Wehner and Jacob Froberg. They have released a four track EP titled Touching Eternity which comprises of two songs and two instrumentals. It’s good stuff.

The title track is a nice driving rocker with a strong, chunky riff as it bounces along with a nice groove.

The Lie is slower paced and more melodic. Yet it is catchy and has a nice moody solo.

The two instrumentals (City and Warlock) are both nice and heavy with the guitar riffing and soloing very effectively.

City has a big backing riff as the guitar meanders away leading in to a quirky, proggy mid-section before things heat up again to a big finish. Joe’s drumming is well up in the mix powering the track along.

Warlock is heavier though throws in a sort of acoustic/flamenco style middle bit giving way to some really tasty guitar to see it out in some style.

To give you some idea of what Touching Eternity sound like, here’s a video of an old track from 1997 song called Stonehenge. It’s taken from the album “Melodic Meltdown by Michael Sobygge. The album is currently being remixed and remastered for a release later this year.
