New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, Classic and Progressive Rock

Motorhead Hit The Road Again – 2013 European Tour.

Motorhead are on tour again, this time hitting venues all around Europe. Incredibly it’s almost forty years since the indestructible Lemmy put the band together following his exit from Hawkwind. Since then Motorhead have become living legends and incredibly influential not just in their early years spanning the New Wave of British Heavy Metal but ever since being one of the most loved, hard working rock bands anywhere.

Over the years, Lemmy and his band mates have put out a string of classic and consistent albums selling by the truck load. The no-compromise style and unmistakeable unique sound of Lemmy’s bass attack and vocal style have thrilled the ears of millions of fans the world over.

For quite some time now the stable line-up of Lemmy, guitarist Phil Campbell and drummer Mickey Dee have shown the rest how it’s done. Hard hitting, fast paced songs which hit squarely between the eyes. The most recent album – The World Is Yours – being another fine example and, as if it was needed, proof that ‘Head have lost nothing and still pack a punch to a power many of their counterparts would struggle to match.

In addition to that succession of fine recording output, the band is also known as one of the most hard working and with a heavy touring commitment. Their stage presence is incredibly intense – not to mention loud – and not to be missed given the chance. I personally first saw them on the legendary Bomber tour all the way back in around 1980 or so and I don’t think my ears have got over it yet. A very memorable show to this day.

2013 TOUR

And now Motorhead are serving it up throughout Europe with dates over the continent through to August 2013 including many of the big rock festivals. For example appearances at Sonisphere in France, Download in the UK and the Wacken Open Air in Germany to name but three.

There are even a couple of shows in Russia and the Ukraine which help to underline the extent of the band’s fan base and global appeal.

For those of you in the UK, there are dates up and down the country in November which include two shows in London at the O2 Academy.
