New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, Classic and Progressive Rock

New Tytan album in 2024?

Tytan Rough JusticeWord appears to be that there could be a new album from Tytan later this year with the working title of Death for Glory. Rather good news indeed for we old New Wave of British Heavy metal aficionados.

The back story of course being that Tytan arose from the ashes of Angelwitch in the early 1980s after ‘Witch split not long after released one of the undoubted classic albums of the emerging NWOBHM scene.

Bassist Kevin Riddles and drummer Dave Dufort would form Tytan in short order and it looked good for them landing a recording deal and cutting a debut album.

What didn’t help were numerous line-up changes and the record company going under before the album could be released.

That album – Rough Justice – was released a couple of years later in 1985. A stone cold NWOBHM classic back then as it remains today four decades later.

Tytan reformed about a dozen years ago to play a few dates and came out of nowhere with a second album – Justice Served – about a decade ago. That’s a good ‘un too like the debut. Reviewed here.

They’ve remained sporadically active since – for example being on the bill with Girlschool and Alcatrazz for some UK dates last year. And have some festival dates lined up for later this year.

Kevin Riddles remains to push things along with reports suggesting that work on that planned new album is underway.

Something to look forward to indeed. As an appetiser, here’s The Watcher from Rough Justice:
