Had word via Soldier guitarist Ian Dick that the band are to re-release a remixed and remastered version of their Dogs of War album which will include two new bonus tracks.
Soldier of course go all the way back to the start of what became the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and have quite a cult following amongst old NWOBHM-ers such as myself with a steady flow of recorded output over the years. Indeed – Soldier remain one of my favourite bands from back then.
The original Dogs of War was issued in 2013 however has been out of print for a few years becoming something of a collectors’ item. It is a strong album which I reviewed at the time saying (amongst other things……) this:
“Whilst retaining a classic new Wave of British heavy Metal feel, Dogs of War spruces it up a bit so it’s all fresh sounding without losing any of its power. After a couple or three listens you will be nodding your head, tapping your feet, singing along and even perhaps a little air guitar if you’re in to all that (I’m too old of course). I think this CD has the lot – it’s hard, heavy, melodic, catchy and other similar adjectives. The twin guitar work is a particular feature and in a Spinal Tap like moment, Ian tells the story in the case notes of how guitarist Miles Goodman was found in the local ironmongery shop. He frets up a storm too does Miles.”

Excellent news that Ian and the band have decided to put together a remixed and remastered version.
Rather than me ramble on about it, have a watch of this video of the band discussing how it came about, what they’ve done and what they’ve added.
I understand that pre-order and release dates will be announced very soon and that there will be a limited run of CDs.
Keep an eye on Soldier’s web presence for when pre-orders will start them snap one up to enjoy a good old NWOBHM-era band still delivering the goods. Links below:
