I’ve been contacted by Mark Nicholson from Toronto to check out his band – Illegal Bodies – and their album entitled Mindflayers. Mark cites NWOBHM as an influence, particularly Judas Priest and Cloven Hoof – and Mindflayers is available as a free download.
Here’s what Mark had to say:
“We live in downtown Toronto, this was our first album. I, Mark Nicholson, composed all the songs and lyrics and recorded the album. The vocalist, Matthew Higgerty, and I met in school in the music program. He was taking the voice and opera program, I was doing guitar and composition. Our album has a sci-fi concept, along the lines of Blade Runner and a bit of Stargate.”
“We’re heavily influenced by NWOBHM bands such as Judas Priest, and Cloven Hoof’s “Dominator” album is a personal favourite. As well influenced by thrash and speed bands, as well as more rockin black metal bands such as Immortal. We released the album Mindflayers in September last year and I’ve began writing the second album.”
