Raven’s magnificent 1982 album Wiped Out gets a hefty refit with an expanded edition with all sorts of stuff over four CDs and a DVD.
After the success of their debut album the previous year as the burgeoning New Wave of British Heavy Metal scene was in the ascendancy, Raven unleashed Wiped Out and also their brand of what would be deemed “athletic rock.”
Wiped Out is an uncompromising album. Relentlessly heavy, fast and brutal.
Monster sized riffs slashing away, breakneck solos, pounding drumming as the Gallagher brothers pump out a classic which has influenced many over the years since.
This expanded edition stretches out over those four CDs and DVD giving much additional things to enjoy. It breaks down like this:
CD1: Wiped Out
CD2: Wiped Out (original mix)
CD3: the Crash, Bang Wallop EP, a BBC session and four live tracks from a Newcastle show in 1982
CD4: a sixteen song set recorded live in Gouda, Belgium in 1982
DVD: the Gouda show
And as this is on the always excellent Cherry Red/HNE label, the set includes a comprehensive booklet with much to read and plenty of old photographs.

This expanded edition of Wiped Out adds to earlier box sets of Raven stuff issued by Cherry Red such as Screamin’ the House Down, which has the band’s output during their time with Atlantic Records between 1985 and 1988 and also the Over the Top box set covering the Neat Records period between 1981 and 1984.
