Had an email pop in today from Sonic Age Records in Greece.
Their emails are always worthy of scrutiny as they are a good source of information on the regularly sporadic discovering of long lost and forgotten bands from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal days.
Today’s email had news of four such bands. They are Heretic, Rough Justice, Snakebite and Bobo.
Do you remember them?
Heretic and Rough Justice out via Faster and Louder Records in limited runs of 200 copies each.
Snakebite and Bobo out via Dyamond Roxx in limited edition runs of 300 copies each.
So don’t hang about if you fancy one, some or all of them….
London based Heretic started out at the end of the 1970s though it wasn’t until 1984 that they spawned an EP titled Burnt at the Stake. There’d also be a one of their songs appear on one of the many compilation albums which were popular at the time. And that was about that.
In this anthology you have the EP, the compilation track and a couple of solo songs by bassist Martin Andrew.
Rough Justice were from Leeds, like Heretic, forming at the end of the 1970s. They followed the template at the time of gigging hard and recoding demos to seek a recording deal.
Whilst it didn’t happen for them – on this limited edition CD you have demos from 1980 and 1981 and also a BBC session from 1981.

Snakebite hailed from Scotland. Like their many counterparts – tried to get the breaks without getting them.
Here we have the “almost live” tape from the early 1980s, a demo from the following year and their one solitary single.
Back in to Yorkshire now for Bobo as they were from Bradford. On this limited edition CD we have their cassette EP and five previously unreleased tracks.
Perhaps most notably for Bobo, guitarist Vic Wright had a spell with Tokyo Blade – who coincidentally have a new album – Hoist the Colours High – due out shortly.
It’s always good that labels continue to unearth stuff like this from the NWOBHM days and here are four more to enjoy.
