Scottish heavy metallers Eld Varg have a new album due for release on 14 November 2025. If it’s anything like there debut album from 2021 One Man Army it’ll be a monster.
That debut was basically a one man project by multi-instrumentalist Ollie Noakes. One Man Army (and the “reinforced” edition) is a huge, hard and heavy affair billed as “riffs, riffs and more riffs”. And that’s right.
In my review, I described it as: “a first class storming album of brutal riff-based heavy/power metal with a top slice of mystical atmospherics.”
You can read that review here.
Now in November, the follow-up of Destroyer will be released. I await with eager anticipation…..
For Destroyer, Ollie has roped in some company with Eld Varg becoming a trio. I come drummer Andy Hedges and bassist Micah Snow.
The media blurb I have says that Destroyer: “builds upon the foundations of One Man Army, delving deeper into themes of adversity, transformation, and rising through the ashes of the past. Heavier, more anthemic, and more cohesive, the album marks a powerful evolution in the band’s sound.”
Ollie says: “It was written during a period of uncertainty. It delves into moving through hardship and moving forward with no clear route to follow. With layered meanings coated in Viking imagery, the album forges a stronger sound and path for the band.”
In advance of the album’s release, a single is out as a taster. It’s titled Black Starlight and it’s powerful and nicely heavy indeed. Want to check it out? Here’s the video:
Destroyer can be pre-ordered now from Eld Varg’s web site:

I’ve got mine in…..
Black Starlight is available on the Eld Varg BandCamp page here:

I’d expect Destroyer will be up there in due course.
I’ll post up a review of Destroyer after release in November.
