Myth of Logic The Memory of After Review

Myth of Logic The Memory of AfterMyth of Logic is a project led by Floridian multi-instrumentalist Scott G. Davis. The Memory of After was is the most recent release (November 2025) and I have Scott to thank for sending me a review copy and also AC at Bad Dog Promotions for getting another of their classy releases to me.

The Memory of After is a special album in my opinion. A grandiose, sweeping, epic, technical, complex yet accessible eighty minutes of majestic progressive rock.

It’s got the lot. All sorts of sweeping, soaring majestic keyboards and synths. Thumping, prominent bass, thrusting guitars and quirky drumming. It’s lyrically strong too as the story unfolds.

That story, yes – there’s a concept – around a central character names Mercy who is born somewhere to a race known as The Architects. Now, they are a race which has become so developed they don’t need speech. Instead they communicate telepathically/empathetically though are thrown when Mercy is born screaming at the top of her lungs.

How will the Architects deal with this? Well, listen to the album to find out…Musically and lyrically it’s a wild ride.

The gentle intro to Keep a Silent Watch soon gives way to a banging bassline with that quirky drumming and if you want keys and synths then you’ve got ‘em. A storming quarter of an hour of mighty prog rock with bite and purpose like it used to be. Glorious.

The Shadow Box winds things back a little bit introducing a use of some tasty violin (very Kansas….) and more of Scott’s dazzling synths.

An Empath in Exile is shorter and more punchy yet no less enjoyable. Check out the video:

The near twenty minute closer of The Skeleton Flower will have your jaw on the floor. It’s so ridiculously good and beyond with everything Scott and his guest musicians throw at it I can’t come up with enough suitable adjectives to describe it.

The Memory of After will make you think of the likes of Kansas, ELP, Yes and Van Der Graaf Generator in their 70s pomp and the likes of Dream Theatre and Symphony X with a good bit of Spock’s Beard, Rush and Ayreon.

The entire album is a huge achievement delivering so much range and scale. In addition to those flowing, fluid, swirling synths, we have expressive guitar work, symphonics and orchestration mixed in along the way.

Despite so much going on, the compositions and arrangements are so well done the eighty minutes flash by so engaging everything is.

Thanks again to Scott and AC for sending the CD to me. Appreciated.
