New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, Classic and Progressive Rock

Satan and Blitzkrieg to Release New Albums in September

Satan Songs in CrimsonTwo veteran bands from the origins of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal are both to release new albums next month (September 2024).

Due first is the self-titled album from Blitzkrieg on 6th September quickly followed on 13th September by Songs in Crimson by Satan.

Both bands go back to the early 1980s helping to set the pace in the then emerging NWOBHM scene – and here we are over four decades later with the pair of them still thumping out the good stuff.

Indeed – 2024 so far has been quite a year for vintage NWOBHM bands showing how things should be done with first class new albums such as Saxon, Demon, Rhabstallion and Troyen to name but four.

Now in just over a month from the date of this post we’ll have the new one from Satan and Blitzkrieg.

Satan perhaps best known for their debut album from 1983 – Court in the Act, a NWOBHM classic. The band hit the road to coincide with the release of Songs in Crimson stating in Manchester on 4th September followed by seven more domestic dates before heading out in to Europe over the rest of September.

Blitzkrieg share a connection with Satan as if I recall correctly, back in the 1980s Brian Ross left the former to join the latter via a brief stint with Avenger and performed on Court in the Act before later re-joining the former where he remains. So quite appropriate that both bands have new albums due out at the same time.

Blitzkrieg has a single released – If I Told You. A thumping song it is too. Huge bass line, thunderous drums, riffs aplenty and quite stunning guitar runs. Here’s the video:

My pre-orders are in for both albums with reviews to follow once they arrive.
