Saxon Recording New Album For Late 2026 Release

Saxon Hell Fire and DamnationNew Wave of British Heavy Metal legends Saxon are back in the studio in the early stages of recording a new album which is tentatively expected top see a release late next year – 2026.

It will be the follow-up to 2024’s magnificent Hell, Fire and Damnation.

With Saxon forming back in 1975, this year sees their half century so a new album next year will be a good way to mark that milestone.

Frontman Biff Byford is a force of nature. Now in his mid-70s his voice is as strong and powerful as ever. And he’s hard as nails having overcome some significant recent health issues.

Now, as I’ve said a few times, Saxon didn’t to much for me back in the early days. Too cheesy. It wasn’t until Carpe Diem that I took a punt to buy that album – and loved it. A proper banger of an album.

Same goes for Hell, Fire and Damnation in 2024. That’s even better. The addition of Diamond Head riffmiester Brian Tatler was notable and seemed to give Saxon an extra push. He’s such a fine guitarist with soloing ability to match the rifferama. He and Doug Scarratt compliment each other well.

Saxon will be busy in 2026. As well as recording that new album, they already have a number of festival appearances booked in here at home and throughout Europe including Spain, France, Sweden.

They are down to appear on the Thursday night at the Bloodstock Open Air festival over here at Catton Park also will once again appear at the Wacken festival in Germany.

All positive stuff with Biff and the chaps recording that new album. And with the recent news that fellow NWOBHM legends Quartz having a new deal and also planning a new album possibly for a 2026 release which will be the follow-up to their excellent Six album which was released earlier this year.

That’s a double dose of good things to look forward to next year. In the meantime, here’s the video for There’s Something in Roswell from Hell, Fire and Damnation.
