New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, Classic and Progressive Rock

Kiss The Gun – Tainted Heart Review.

I’ve got a good one for you to discover today. The debut EP from Kiss the Gun. We have a good old New Wave of British Heavy Metal connection too as the band features Alan Marsh and Andy Boulton from Tokyo Blade and others.

The web site strapline is “classic rock played the old fashioned way”. How that hits the spot. The three tracks on the EP are indeed top notch and fit that description more than adequately.

Clean and fresh sounding with crisp chords, a big sound and some nifty fretwork from Mr Boulton. A double thumbs up in my book.

Tainted Heart and Dance With the Devil are impossibly hook-laden getting infectiously under the skin from the first listen. Remind me a bit of UFO. Proper stuff. Tight, well arranged and well played.

The band stretch out a bit with the third cut, Screaming Man. The changes of pace and the central staccato guitar riff make for a memorable listening experience.

Kiss the Gun have game. That’s for sure with this EP. There’s plenty of pedigree and experience put to excellent use and not a little talent.

Based on the three tracks here an album must surely follow – that’s going to happen, right boys?

Until an album does come along I do recommend you treat yourself to Tainted Heart. At less than a fiver you cannot go wrong.
