A couple of posts ago we talked about Mirage and the email from ex-member Gerry Turner. Now it’s spooky coincidence time……I have Google alerts set for NWOHM and New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Just a few moments ago one popped in about Mirage using crowd-funding site Kickstarter to fund a limited edition re-issue of their hard to find classic Blind Fury on good old vinyl. So here’s your opportunity to back the band and get a collectible at the same time.
Here’s a quick lift from the project description to cover a bit more:
“So this is our project: put out an EP with BLIND FURY as the A-Side and TWILIGHT ZONE + RUNAWAY as the B side. The funding amount we’re looking for gives us “Heavy Weight Black Vinyl in Printed Sleeve with Inner Bags DMM Cutting & Production of Metalwork from supplied master. Pressing of 7″ black heavy virgin vinyl with full colour labels. Packing to white inner sleeves and full colour outer sleeves” PLUS 5 test pressings. We have one more copy of the original LP that will be given to the first individual to pledge half of the requested amount. All pledgers get a copy of the vinyl disc!”
If they can raise £750 by 28 April then all’s good. There are different levels of pledge as below:
£5 gets you a copy of the vinyl EP.
£25 gets you the EP signed by two band members plus a colour photo print of the band.
£150 gets you the EP signed by two band members plus a colour photo print of the band plus (one of only five) “test pressing” versions.
£375 gets you the EP signed by two band members plus a colour photo print of the band plus (one of only five) “test pressing” versions plus (there’s only one of these) the band’s last copy of the original 1984 vinyl record.
I’ve started things off with £25 – so if all you NWOBHM types out there reading this stump up at least a fiver then (as they say) “the job’s a good ‘un.” Don’t have a couple of beers tonight, pledge the money towards Mirage’s project instead. You’ll get more long-lasting pleasure out of a top New Wave of British Heavy Metal rarity than a couple of pints.
